Love for A Loved One

July 20, 2011

Recently, our community saw the passing of one of our bright and energetic lights.

As those who love her gathered close to support her in her final days, an amazingly inspiring idea emerged.  Someone suggested gathering our scrap fun fur, to make a quilt to wrap her up in love.

A special day was arranged, and folks brought their sewing machines, sergers, bags of fun fur, bits of embellishment, food, drinks, music, and love for our friend.  By the end of the day, there were rows of finished squares, all made by different people, showing their affection and support.  Ultimately, the squares were made into two quilts of furry love, delivered to our friend who was “overjoyed”, and they now belong to her two children.  Friends from out of town sent in their furry contributions, and some late arrivals were made into pillows for our beloved’s family, to send love to them too.

“Quilts delivered, we poured a whole lotta love into those squares and it shows.”

Thank you, Y, for coming up with this brilliant idea.  I am so grateful to be part of a community like this.

Spotlight on Little Woo

July 20, 2011

We have so  many bright lights in this community, that I could spend ages highlighting them all.  We are truly blessed to have so many imaginative and inspiring people.  Someone who continues to inspire me is Little Woo.

It is so rare to meet someone who moves in the world with such authenticity and clarity, as Little Woo does.  Her creativity, compassion, playfulness, and personal grace swirl together with a beautiful alchemy.  She is both engaged and engaging, and brings a unique energy that is admirable and inspiring.  I have had the great pleasure to speak with her, as well as see her express herself though many diverse artistic ventures.

Little Woo is currently developing her next workshop series, “The Evolution of Inspiration”, which I am very much looking forward to.

About Little Woo:
Little Woo is an unconventional spiritual teacher and artist who offers kick-ass insight and joie de vivre on the journey of self-realization. Many of her students/clients are lovable freaks, burlesque dancers, artists, freedom-seekers and offbeat entrepreneurs.  With compassion and humour, there is no story too dark to tell, no pain too ugly to feel and no beast too strange to love.  Be you Lost or Found, Little Woo is a spiritual Muse who helps anchor the magic and inspiration on your epic voyage of Evolution. Check out her workshops, projects and private sessions for a boost to your spiritual mojo!  Receive her personal newsletter via email (sign up atwww.littlewoo.org) or stay in touch on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LittleWoo.Muse

Big News

July 19, 2011

With the warm reception and enthusiasm for the Inspiration Project gatherings, I have decided to add one more salon to the schedule!

Save the date! The last Inspiration Project Salon will be held on the afternoon of Sunday August 7th. At this very special gathering, you will also have an opportunity to say a few words for the film. Your participation in the film portion is completely optional, but highly encouraged.

As two of the three we have already hosted have been in remote, event-oriented locations that not everyone could get to, this last one will be LOCAL, and may be freely attended.  Location will soon be determined, based on interest, so please let me know if you would like to attend.  If we have less than 30 attendees, I can host it at my home, otherwise I will look into booking a hall or a restaurant for us to play in.

Originally I had planned to review & edit the material while all of you were off playing in the desert, and to have the film finished for when you arrived home.  But it looks like I will be heading to the desert this year after all, and so I have set myself a new schedule, with the intention of getting it finished before we go!   Wish me luck :)

Third Salon

July 19, 2011

Whoo, sorry I’m a bit late with my report.

The third Inspiration Salon was held at Burn In The Forest, on Sunday July 10 at 11am, seated under the magical Sound Frond. In attendance: Robert, Katia, Uber, Megan, Baha, Dawg, AEA, Aaron, PI, Montie, and many more who dropped in for portions of the meeting.

This one was a bit different from the others in that it was not an enclosed location, and so there was definitely a different vibe.  It was wonderful to be able to snap up passers-by, and get their spontaneous input, but in contrast to the vulnerability shared in previous meets, the open location of this one seemed to foster a more intellectual, and less emotional process.

We asked each other many of the questions from previous salons, including how inspiration feels, stories about people who inspire us, and our best ideas.  Before closing with things we would do for ourselves and for others, we asked if we saw something or experienced something that weekend that inspired us.  So touching was to hear a round of agreement that seeing each other coming together to create the event was in itself inspiring.  Also inspiring was hearing that so many of the fresh folks (people for whom BitF was their first Burner event), jumped right in and helped make the weekend an amazing, collaborative paradise.

We had the good fortune to draw in Uber and Montie as they passed, to share some insight and information about the very inspiring project which we were sitting under.  We joked that Uber was our guest speaker, as he is an endless source of interesting stories and facts.  Something wonderful he said, regarding ideas (I’ll paraphrase):  ”The best is when you have a great idea, and you communicate it to someone, and they don’t get it…But the WAY they don’t get it is so cool that it makes the original idea even better.”

Friday Link Roundup #2

July 1, 2011

Thanks to Julie, whose link quoted this blog:

“Fear is epic.  Whatever it is that scares you, you’ve simply just got to want it bad enough–bad enough that the pain of NOT moving forward is greater than the pain of taking action.  Doing this will give you no other choice but to rally every single cell of your body, mind, heart, and soul to move forward andfight for it–honorably, and with conviction.  And then make it yours.”
